In 1985, in the age of 6 years, I started swimming in my
hometown Coburg. At this time nobody could imagine that the boy,
afraid of water, will become an enthusiastic triathlete who
considers his sport as a
kind of lifestyle.
Swimming has dominated my life for almost 10 years. By the end
of 1994 I took part at countless local, federal state, Southern Germany
and German Championships. Additional I took part at
many
national and international swim meetings.
At the end of 1994 I've started playing
water polo and
broke up my swimming career very early.
Besides participations at Bavarian, Southern German and German
Championships, I played as a team captain in the Bavarian water
polo selection team.
Finally in 1997 I discovered
road cycling, running and
especially
triathlon as my new sports.
Since my first triathlon in September 1997 (I finished in fourth
without any kind of training, w/o wetsuit and with a borrowed bike) I can
look back to countless international races with many top ten results.
